Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Left atrial (LA) functional abnormalities, including LA strain (LAS) and rate (LASR) reduction, are observed in patients with left ventricular diastolic disfunction (LVDD). However, the degree reduction at different stages LVDD is not fully clarified. We aimed to assess interdependence between LAS LASR parameters grades subjects advanced age preserved ejection fraction (EF). Material methods Consecutive patients, who underwent echocardiography within 12 months, were screened included into study case older than 65 years, EF, sinus rhythm time dataset sufficient quality for speckle tracking analysis. parameters, peak during reservoir, conduit, contractile phases calulated single plane apical 4-chamber view assessment. One-way ANOVA analysis Bonferroni correction was used difference groups. Results Among 153 (mean 74 ± 7 years; 105 female, mean EF 64 5%) there 38 no evidence LVDD, 67 grade 1, 40 2, 5 3. The values these groups summarized Table. All significantly reduced 2 3 comparing LVDD. Contractile phase slightly higher 1 patients. Reservoir conduit lower but only significant. Do left atrial strain and strain rate reflect intrinsic atrial function, or are they determined by left ventricular function?
BACKGROUND Left atrial (LA) strain (S) and strain rate (SR) are reported as measures of intrinsic function. AIM Since the LA and left ventricle (LV) are connected through the mitral annulus, we investigated: (1) if deformation indices in the LA are mostly predicted by deformation of the LV; (2) if timings of S and SR events are similar in both the LA and LV; and (3) if alteration of S and SR ...
متن کاملGlobal diastolic strain rate for the assessment of left ventricular relaxation and filling pressures.
BACKGROUND Diastolic strain rate (SR) measurements that comprise all left ventricular (LV) segments are advantageous over myocardial velocity for assessment of diastolic function. Mitral early diastolic velocity (E)/SR ratio during the isovolumetric relaxation (IVR) period can be used to estimate LV filling pressures. METHODS AND RESULTS Simultaneous echocardiographic imaging and LV pressure ...
متن کاملassessment of left atrial function after percutaneous coronary intervention: a doppler-based strain and strain rate study
conclusions pci was accompanied by some improvement in left atrial deformation indices as assessed by tissue doppler imaging. revascularization can, therefore, improve patient outcome. results regarding changes in left trial functional parameters after pci, those such as the strain of the septal wall and the anterior and inferior walls and the strain rate of the anterior and lateral walls signi...
متن کاملDecreased diastolic wall strain is associated with adverse left ventricular remodeling even in patients with normal left ventricular diastolic function
BACKGROUND The pathophysiology of diastolic dysfunction is complex, but can be simply described as impaired LV myocardial relaxation and/or increased LV stiffness. The objective of this study is to clarify true normal left ventricular (LV) diastolic function and early stage of diastolic dysfunction before relaxation abnormality develops in patients with normal LV diastolic function using simple...
